Evert Hofacker
Founder · 1975
Cadeaux Jewelry begins with a sculptor. Evert Hofacker founded the company in 1975 in Koblenz, Germany—not as a goldsmith, but as a professional artist with a deep sensitivity for form, function, and modernism. This origin in sculpture was no coincidence. It was the reason Cadeaux Jewelry was different from the start.
In 1977, Hofacker patented the Two-Prong-Setting—a revolutionary technique that makes the diamond appear to float freely. No other house possesses this setting. It remains unique to this day—still available today as Bangle Jazz II and Ring Flamenco, unchanged since 1977.
Early Cadeaux Jewelry creations captured the spirit of the avant-garde—a design language that collectors and designers still admire today.
Philip Bächtold
The Swiss Era
A new chapter began with Philip Bächtold. The brand moved to Switzerland—to Herrliberg, Canton Zurich—and became what it is today: Cadeaux Ginkgo AG, registered in Switzerland, with responsibility mark no. 7949, guaranteed in 18 carat gold.
Under Bächtold's leadership, Cadeaux Jewelry received its legal identity, its Swiss quality guarantee, and its international licensing structure. In 2001, Baechtold Ltd. was established in Thailand as a licensed manufacturer and distribution partner for Asia—a strategic move that anchored the brand in one of the world's most demanding jewelry markets.
The ginkgo leaf was registered as a trademark. The brand grew. The quality remained.
